If you're following along with our weekly challenge, you know that we're focused on finding your niche audience this week. Yesterday, I asked you to shout out three words that best describe what you want to share with the community. I was BLOWN AWAY by all of your thoughtful and inspiring answers 💖 Thank you so much for contributing! 🌿👏
Today, we're going to take this one step farther. I invite you to think DEEPLY about what your answer means. Is it TRULY what you want to offer and what kind of people do you expect to be reading?
Take SSC for example, when I started, I thought I had a budtender training program so I marketed to anyone and everyone who might want to fill that role in the industry. Budtenders are amazing. They are the warriors at the frontlines of the disseminating natural medicine to thousands of people in need🌱. But guess what? Turns out, they were not the audience for me! Because I've never been a budtender. I've never worked in cannabis retail, and I don't know the first thing about budtending 🤗
What I do know is how to start and run a public health business. So Instead of focusing on budtenders, I shifted gears to deliver value to their bosses. These are the entrepreneurs, educators, and coaches plotting a career path in the cannabis industry. The kind of information I have to share is WAY more valuable for this demographic. That's not to say that there are not budtenders taking my courses, there definitely are. But they are mega overachievers who will almost assuredly own their own business one day. And that is EXACTLY the kind of person I want to reach.
So today, we're going to add a little more detail to the big picture. Ask yourself, who can you serve best with your skillset, and what value do you bring them? For this exercise, we're going to keep things easy. In the comments below, write a one-paragraph entry: If you could write a recipe for the perfect reader, what would it be?🍃👩🍳
